Welcome to the Inflight Magazine of Brussels Airlines
This season’s shows were awash with pale skin, pastel eyes and soft matte mouths, a look that’s distinctly un-summery, but a perfect foil to the monochrome clothing all over the catwalks
Skin Shiny skin has been de rigueur for a couple of summers, but as make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury points out, “it looks a bit Footballers’ Wives now – matte feels much more modern”. But matte does not mean flat. Keep skin looking luminous with a light gel foundation like Chantecaille’s Future Skin (€75, www.chantecaille.com) 1 and disguise any imperfections with a creamy concealer like Laura Mercier’s Secret Concealer (€27, www.lauramercier.com) 2 . Finally, keep shine at bay with a light dusting of loose powder – a soft pink shade like By Terry’s Loose Powder in Rose de Jour (€53, www.spacenk.co.uk) 3 will brighten up sallow skin.
Eyes These should be delicately defined in gossamer soft shades – no hard lines or heavy kohl. Keep eyes matte with a powder shadow in a colour like Becca’s Pressed Eyeshadow in Princess (€24, www.beccacosmetics.com) 4 and add definition with a single coat of Lancôme’s Fatale Mascara in Black (€23, www.lancome.com) 5 .
Lips This season lips should have the texture of velvet. Replace sticky glosses with cream lipsticks. The prettiest shade of pink around is MAC’s Pink Plaid (€17.50, www.maccosmetics.com) 6 .
Cheeks Pale and interesting is the look this spring. Rather than reach for the bronzer, use a pink cream blusher on the apples of the cheeks to impart a healthy glow. Nars’ The Multiple in Riviera (€40.50, www.narscosmetics.com) 7 is ideal.

The Lotte Berk Method
Inspired by her love of dance, German born dance instructor Lotte Berk created a form of exercise based on the principles of yoga, modern dance and physiotherapy. Former students include Joan Collins, Britt Ekland and Yasmin Le Bon. The exercises themselves – similar to ballet dancers’ bar work – are designed to elongate and strengthen the muscles, stretching hamstrings and obliques to create a lean, supple silhouette. It’s hard work, and it can take three months of twice-weekly sessions before you see results, but you’ll be rewarded with improved flexibility, increased stamina, fantastically toned legs and a perfect posterior.
