Originally a craft market, it has grown into one of the country’s best funfairs. Sample regional food and apple wine, ride the carousels and roller coaster, or, if you’re visiting on the final day, marvel at the closing fireworks. |

| 1-30 Copenhagen Thirty Years of Staged Photography (www.louisiana.dk) This major retrospective of the work of artist Cindy Sherman is taking place at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, 35km north of Copenhagen. Although the pictures portray Sherman in a variety of guises, they’re not self-portraits, but rather separate representations of various female stereotypes. A must for post-feminists and art lovers everywhere. |

| 2-9 Stockholm Skansen Easter celebrations (www.skansen.se) The pagan celebrations on which the Christian festival of Easter was grafted are still very much in evidence in Sweden; children don witch costumes and receive sweets. | 6-10 Bruges Choco-Laté 2007 (www.choco-late.be) Last year, some 14,000 visitors and 72 exhibitors descended on Bruges for the first Choco-Laté Festival. This year, the event promises to be bigger and better, with demonstrations by chefs, chocolate tastings, a children’s workshop and a cocoa-themed walk through the historical town. |

| 13-14 Helsinki Beer Festival (www.helsinkibeerfestival.com) This year marks the 10th anniversary of the immensely popular Helsinki Beer Festival held at the Cable Factory. The annual event attracts large crowds of people looking to sample some of the hundreds of beers from around the world. They can also see the year’s best beer, cider and whisky blind-tested by a panel of professional judges. |

| 14-22 Florence Art 2007 (www.mostraartigianato.it) Once a year, the Handicrafts Art Fair held at the Fortezza da Basso sees around 700 exhibitors from five continents, as well as more than 200,000 visitors, converge on Florence. | 24-29 Seville La Feria de Abril (www.andalucia.com) La Feria de Abril, Seville’s annual week-long party, kicks off with the lighting of the lanterns, when nearly half a million tiny lights are lit around the city’s main gate. Then the Real de la Feria, a temporary city made of canvas, becomes the central location for festivities that include flamenco parties, dancing and parades. |
